We collect information only for mission-driven purposes such as connecting individuals to voluntary firearm storage partners, sharing safety resources, and providing community updates.

  • Firearm storage interest (e.g., “interested in an in-home storage device”)

1.2 What We Do Not Collect

To protect your privacy and ensure trust with the communities we serve:

  • We do NOT collect, track, or store information about firearms you may own.

  • We do NOT record firearm types, serial numbers, storage locations, or transfer details.

  • We do NOT collect mental-health or medical information.

People may request support or resources, but TAP does not store clinical data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

  • Connect individuals with TAP partner organizations

  • Send community updates, resource links, and safety materials

  • Share partner and program announcements

  • Deliver newsletters via email

  • Improve our programs and outreach

  • Meet reporting obligations to grantors (aggregated and anonymized only)

  • Respond to inquiries

We will never sell your personal information.

3. SMS/Text Messaging

We use Grasshopper to send limited, mission-focused SMS messages, which may include:

  • Appointment reminders

  • Partner updates

  • Safety tips and educational content

  • Community updates

  • Resource links

You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP.

4. Email Communications 

We use Squarespace Email Campaigns to send newsletters, resource updates, and partner highlights.

You may unsubscribe from any email at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of TAP emails.

5. Data Sharing

We only share information in the following ways:

We may share anonymized, aggregated data with grantors.

This data cannot identify you.

 

5.2 Technical Service Providers

We work with trusted companies (e.g., SurveyMonkey, Grasshopper, Squarespace) to deliver services. These providers process data on our behalf and do not have permission to use it for their own purposes. 

We do not share information with:

  • Gun shops or FFLs without your request

  • Law enforcement, unless legally required

  • Any partners for marketing or sales purposes

We do not sell personal information.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for 24 months, unless a longer period is required for legal or program-related purposes.

You may request deletion at any time.
